Individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) suffer from a variety of sleep complaints, including insomnia, nightmares, sleep apnea, and violent dream enactment. These webinars will highlight the most frequent sleep disorders experienced with PTSD, with the goals of increasing understanding of the complex interplay between sleep and post-traumatic stress and exploring the best standards of practice for treating sleep disorders in this patient population.
Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the prevalence, characteristics, and successful management of sleep apnea in patients with PSTD
  2. Evaluate and manage symptoms of trauma-associated parasomnias in patients with trauma history
  3. Explore behavioral sleep medicine strategies for treating sleep problems in PTSD
  4. Expalin how prazosin can be used for treating PTSD-related nightmares and sleep disturbance
